The impulse of man and the forces of nature have begun to merge so that the accepted values of the human/environmental relationship are gradually experiencing change. As nature’s power runs its course on new creations of man, a mutual connection between the two is uniformly established. Representing the connection between this interaction was the main goal of my concentration. To do so, I was able to find relationships that are often overlooked. Throughout the process of this concentration I was not only able to represent subjects in ways uncanny to the human eye, but also develop a connection between the diverse environments around us.
The work within this series also represents a dual relationship in which both nature and man can be the influencing factor. This can be seen through “Peeling Pieces” in which nature acts as the force while in “Nature’s Heart,” man seems to take this role. I believe this was necessary to show how certain situations may represent different interactions. Without this dual relationship I feel the concentration would be limited in showing the true range of both nature and man’s brute forces. Most importantly, throughout the process of this concentration I was able to realize that the forces of both man and nature aren’t necessarily destructive. I noticed that a mutual relationship can be observed between the two, almost to a point of coexistence.
